Howard Wesley Gordon was born Mar. 26, 1919 to Lester H. and Ellen Gunderson Gordon. He died Sept. 23, 2006 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Howard served with the U.S. Navy in World War II where he saw action in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre at Okinawa, serving as a gunner’s mate on the destroyer-minesweeper, USS Hobson (D-464).

Howard Wesley Gordon, 87, Webster City, died at Hamilton Hospital Saturday, September 23, 2006. Graveside services with military rites will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Graceland Cemetery, Webster City. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, Webster City, with Dr. Gale E. Mack officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church and prior to the graveside services on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations in memory of Howard be directed to the First Baptist Church or Hamilton County Relay for Life-American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Foster Funeral & Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.

He married Frances Marcelyn Doolittle May 31,1946 and was the father of Paul Howard and Marvin Lee Gordon.
