FIRST RELEASE OF STATE HISTORICAL DEATH SUMMARIES  

Eighty men from Kossuth county lost their lives while in the service of their country in World War II.

Killed in Italy Jan. 25, 1944.

Ralph Bert Geerdes was born Aug. 20, 1921 to Henry E. and Katie Ann Geerdes. He died Jan. 25, 1944 and is buried in Olena Mound Cemetery, Buffalo Center, IA.

Pvt. Geerdes served in World War II with the U.S. Army 504th Parachute Infantry, 82nd “All American” Airborne Division and died of wounds received in action in Italy.
