NEWS FROM OUR BOYS

MARINE SHARPSHOOTER.
Marine Corps Private Wesley Gard, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Gard, route 1, Sioux City, has qualified as a pistol and rifle sharpshooter at San Diego, Cal.  He received a $36 bonus for his sharpshooter qualification and also was given medals for excellence in chemical warfare and bayonet practice.

MEN AND WOMEN IN SERVICE.

Private Wesley R. Gard of the marine corps, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Gard, route 2, has returned to his base somewhere in the South Pacific after having served on Guadalcanal. He is recovering from malaria.

Wesley Robert Gard was born July 11, 1916 to Elza Gordon and Ruth Anna Bliss Gard. He died May 15, 2006 and is buried in Graceland Park Cemetery Sioux City, IA.
