Lt. Robert Klauder Foulkes

 

 

Robert Klauder Foulkes was born May 20, 1921 to Howard William and Beatrice Klauder Foulkes. He died Dec. 26, 1944 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and has a cenotaph in Rising Sun Cemetery, Rising Sun, IA.

Lt. Foulkes served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 69th Fighter Squadron, 58th Fighter Group and was MIA/FOD/KIA as the pilot of a P-47 (Thunderbolt) fighter plane which participated in an attack upon a Japanese task force off the coast of Mindoro Island in the Philippines. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart and Air Medal.
