Walter Christopher Fontana was born Dec. 27, 1920 to Sylvester and Nora Baldwin Fontana. He died Aug. 13, 1999 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Walter served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Obituary:

Walter Christopher Fontana, 78, died Friday, August 13, 1999 in Prescott Valley, AZ. A memorial service was held August 18 at the Sunrise Funeral Home with Rev. James Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Webster City at a later date. The family suggest memorial contributions to the charity of one’s choice.

Walter Fontana, son of Sylvester and Nora Fontana of Webster City, was born on Dec. 27, 1920 in Webster City. He married Margaret Kucera on Feb. 14, 1960 in San Diego, CA. He worked as an engineer at the University of California in San Diego, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 330 and the VFW, both of Prescott Valley.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Prescott Valley, son, Daniel of Phoenix, and daughters Janice Fontana, and Sharon Wilkinson, both of Phoenix, and Peggy Detweiler, Concho, AZ, brother Dean of Scottsdale, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
