PURPLE HEART

With The 7th Infantry Division On Okinawa—Pfc. Robert J. Fisher, Webster City, Iowa, has been awarded the Purple Heart medal, oldest American military decoration, for wounds received in action against the enemy on Okinawa Shima.

He has fully recovered and is back on duty with his rifle company in the famed 7th division.

Participating in his first Pacific campaign here, Pfc. Fisher helped in the American capture of Hill 153 in one of the major actions in the closing days of the fight for this former home island of Japan.

Prior to his induction into the army, he was employed as a timekeeper by the Zitterell-Mills Co., Webster City.

His wife resides in Webster City.

Robert Joseph Fisher was born Apr. 7, 1920. He died Dec. 30, 2007 and is buried in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL
