Alonzo Alfred Fisher was born Oct. 28, 1919 to Alva A. and Helen L. Prieb Fisher. He died Apr. 5, 1993 and is buried in the Blairsburg Cemetery, Blairsburg, IA.

Pvt. Fisher served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Alonzo A. Fisher, 73, Waterloo, formerly of Webster City, died April 5, 1993 at Harmony House Care Center in Waterloo. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Blairsburg Cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral Home until noon Friday.

Alonzo Alfred Fisher, son of Alva and Helen (Prieb) Fisher, was born October 28, 1919 in Nevada. He moved with his parents to Webster City and graduated from Webster City High School.

On March 23, 1941, he married Edna Rothrock at Albia. The couple resided in Webster City. He served in the United States Army Infantry during World War II. Upon retuning to Webster City, he was a painting contractor. He also was a former councilman in Webster City. In 1960, they moved to Cedar Rapids. He was employed at Colllins, St. Luke’s Hospital and Harnischfeger Manufacturing, all in Cedar Rapids. He retired in 1982.

He is survived by his wife, Edna; daughter, Ann Dubishier of Morrison, Colorado.; sons, Lon and Ray, both of Cedar Rapids, and John of Marion; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Ione Bickford of Orlando, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
