Maurice J. Fevold

 

 

Maurice J. Fevold was born Feb. 21, 1923 to John Paul and Carrie Thorson Fevold. He died Dec. 23, 1944 and is buried in Blossom Hill Cemetery, Badger, IA. He is also part of a Group Burial of co-mingled remains at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. He is memorialized at Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial in Luxembourg with a rosette next to his name to mark that he now rests in a known gravesite.

Sgt. Fevold served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 599th Bomb Squadron, 397th Bomb Group, Medium as the armorer/tail gunner on the B-26 Marauder “Hunconscious” when his plane was shot down over Belgium and he was listed as MIA. In 2014 his remains were identified. His military awards and honors include the Purple Heart, Air Medal (11 awards), Army Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (with one silver service star), World War II Victory Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and Enlisted Aircrew Member Wings.
