Virgil Frederick Erickson was born Jan. 15, 1915 to Oscar Edward and Charlotte Gustafson Erickson. He died May 29, 1988 and is buried in South Marion Cemetery, Stratford, IA.

Virgil served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Obituary:

Stratford—Virgil Erickson, 73, died Sunday, May 29 at Mary Greeley Hospital. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 1 at 1:30 p.m. at the Christian Church in Stanhope with Rev. William Van Dam officiating. Burial will be in the South Marion Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Stark Welin Funeral Home in Stratford tonight from 5-9 p.m. and Wednesday 9 a.m.-noon.

Mr. Erickson was born Jan. 14, 1915 at Stanhope, the son of Oscar and Charlotte Gustafson Erickson. He married Beverly Speck on Dec. 28, 1938. He was a longtime Stanhope area farmer and a member of the Christian Church in Stanhope.

Survivors are his wife; two sons, Larry of DeKalb, Ill., and Gary of Stanhope; two daughters, Charlotte Danet of Travis City, Mich., and Nancy Allen of Montezuma; nine grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, Elmer of Humboldt, George of Stratford, and Carl, and Edna Geiger, both of Oakland, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
