Burton Clyde English was born Feb. 14, 1920 to Thomas Milligan and Martha Maurine Winters English. He died Oct. 1, 1943 and was buried in a cemetery in Switzerland with highest military honors. He was later repatriated to Oakland Cemetery, Sac City, IA.
Lt. English served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 416th Bomb Squadron, 99th Bomb Group and was KIA when the airplane in which he was a crew member was forced down by enemy action.
