Eighty men from Kossuth county lost their lives while in the service of their country in World War II.   

KOSSUTH'S WAR DEAD. 

Engesser, Daniel, Pfc.
Died of wounds, 1-17-45 in Belgium.
Wife: Mrs. Daniel Engesser, Whittemore.
Parents:  Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Engesser, Bancroft, Ia.

Daniel Joseph Engesser, Sr. was born Feb. 15, 1912 to Ignatius and Julia M. Keller Engesser. He died Jan 17, 1945 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Algona, IA.

Pvt. Engesser served in World War II with the U.S. Army 193rd Glider Infantry, 17th Airborne Division and died in Belgium from wounds received in action.
