Pfc. Richard Leo Edvenson

 

 

 

Richard Leo ‘Dick’ Edvenson was born Dec. 6, 1925 to Harry and Edna Wiltsey Edvenson. He died May 18, 2009 and is buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Hollister, Ca.

Pfc. Edvenson served in the 101st Army Airborne paratroopers unit in WWII, where he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze medal for bravery. He then served in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War.

Dick had a deep appreciation for his country and fellow veterans. He was dedicated to placing American flags at the gravesites of Hollister’s fallen veterans on all patriotic holidays. He was a life member of the American Legion and a member of VFW Post 9242.
