Pvt. Robert D. Dunning, 19, graduate of the Spencer high school, was killed in action in France July 3. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Dunning of Vallejo, Cal., and a grandson of State Representative and Mrs. A. A. Avery and of Mrs. Hattie Dunning of Spencer.

Robert Douglas Dunning was born Apr. 1, 1925 to Joy Douglas and Margaret Avery Dunning. He died July 3, 1944 and is buried in Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Colleville-sur-Mer, Normandy, France.

Pvt. Dunning served with the U.S. Army 114th Infantry, 79th Division in World War II and was KIA in France.
