Walter G. Dowie was born Nov. 20, 1922 to Frank D. and Lillian Mae Traffley Dowie. He died July 6, 1943 and is memorialized at the tablets of the Missing - Army, Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, Manila, Philippines.
Lt. Dowie served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 424th Bomber Squadron, 307th Bomber Group, Heavy and was MIA/KIA/FOD in Bougainville, Papua, New Guinea. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Air Medal.
