Col. Warren Truman Doolittle

 

 

 

Warren Truman Doolittle was born July 24, 1921 to Edward ‘Ed’ and Rhoda Jane Leone Doolittle. He died Mar. 20, 2013 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

Col. Doolittle was a navigator (Flying Fortress) trained in radar both for navigation and bombing, completing 29 missions in Europe (WW II) and 17 missions in Korea. His planes were shot down several times but the crews survived as a result of heroic actions. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Force Medal with three oak leaf clusters, European Theater of Operations with five Bronze Stars and the Korean Service Medal.
