Hans Raymond Dickinson, son or Orin and Margaret Abrahamson Dickinson, was born January 28, 1924 at Gilbert, IA. He received his education in the Gilbert High School, graduating in 1944. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marines, was stationed in Hawaii and received an honorable discharge in 1954. On October 21, 1950, he married Donna Handy at Des Moines. They made their home south of Stanhope, where Hans farmed with his brother, LeVerne. On February 27, 1960, he began his long career with the Webster City Police Department and served as the Chief of Police from March of 1978 until his retirement in April of 1987. Hans loved the outdoors and was often spotted at his favorite fishing hole at Briggs Woods Lake or his cabin near Duluth, MN. He could always be quoted as saying “A bad day fishing is always better than any day at work”. Hans will be dearly missed by many, especially his fishing pals.
