Sgt. Decker Returning From 25 Months in the Asiatic-Pacific

Sgt. Joseph Decker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Decker, 1627 President N.W., is returning from 25 months overseas in the Asiatic-Pacific theater of operations, according to word received from headquarters service command at Omaha, Nebr.

Sgt. Decker was scheduled to go to the reception center at Jefferson Barracks, Mo. before coming to Mason City.

Iowans In Italy Receive Awards

With the Fifth Army in Italy (IDPA) -- [excerpt]

2nd Lt. John Decker, of Mason City, was promoted from staff sergeant in the 133rd infantry in recognition of his outstanding fighting ability. He has the silver star fro gallantry in action, the combat infantryman badge, two stars on his European theater ribbon and a good conduct medal. Two brothers are overseas: Sgt. Joseph Decker, in the Aleutian Islands and Pfc. Raymond Decker, in the air forces in England.
