Cornelius De Stigter was promoted to the rank of Corporal on July 21st, according to word received from New Orleans Army Air Base where he is stationed. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lane De Stigter.

Pvt. Cornelius De Stigter returned to camp at San Luis Obispo, Calif. on Thursday morning following a 15-day furlough which was spent at the parental Lane De Stigter home.

Iowa, U. S., WWII Bonus Case Files 1947-1954, Claim No. 90256

Cornelius De Stigter, SN 17169568, was born June, 2, 1924 in Sioux Center, and was living at Box 396, Sioux Center, Iowa just prior to entering active service in the Army on Dec. 10, 1942 at Camp Dodge, Iowa. He served with the 889th Signal Company (Depot Aviation) and Company “B”, 387th Infantry, 97th Infantry Division. He left for overseas duty on February 19, 1945, returned to the States on June 29, 1945, left again on August 29, 1945 and returned again to the States on February 8, 1946. He was honorably discharged on February 17, 1946. His application for bonus pay was filed on May 16, 1949, and he received $375.00 in bonus pay.
