Harold Engelbert Crouse

 

 

Chester A. and Jennie A. Engelbert Crouse had three sons serving their country in World War II, also a son-in-law, Eric ‘Hutch’ Hutchison, husband of Donna Laurine Crouse, served with the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Merlin Eugene Crouse was born Sept. 19, 1919. He died July 13, 1966 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Pvt. Crouse served with the U.S. Army in World War II with Co. M, 358th Infantry.

Merlin Crouse Dies Suddenly

Merlin E. Crouse, 45, a former Webster City resident, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon at the Veterans’ hospital in Knoxville.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. S.W. Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery with military services at graveside.

Merlin Eugene Crouse, son of Chester and Jennie Crouse, was born Sept. 19, 1920 at Webster City. He was reared and educated in this community.

He was employed at the Hahne Printing Co. for several years, the served overseas in the armed services during World War II. After his discharge from service, he returned to Webster City and continued his employment with the Hahne Printing Co.

For the past five years he had been a patient at the Veterans’ hospital in Knoxville.

He is survived by two brothers and two sisters: Harold Crouse of Rockford, Ill., Donald Crouse of Miami, Fla., Mrs. Arlo (Helen) Kauffman of Des Moines and Mrs. Donna Hutchison of Novato, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers who died in infancy.

Mr. Crouse was a member of the Congregational church and was a member of the American Legion.

Harold Engelbert ‘Bucket’ Crouse was born July 16, 1916 to Chester A. and Jennie A. Engelbert Crouse. He died Aug. 9, 1988 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Pvt. Crouse served with the U.S. Army in World War II with Co. C, 59th Engineer-Boat Shore Regiment in the South Pacific.

Donald Arthur Crouse was born Feb. 23, 1927. He died Nov. 30, 1998 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Pvt. Crouse served with the U.S. Army in World War II.
