Eugene Patrick “Gene” Cosgrove was born Sept. 26, 1917 to Thomas F. and Helen Cecelia “Nellie” Crowley Cosgrove. He died Jan. 30, 1944 and is buried in Sicily-Rome American Cemetery, Nettuno, Italy.
Sgt. Cosgrove served in World War II with the U.S. Army 168th Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry Division and was MIA/KIA in Italy in the service of his country and awarded the Purple Heart with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters.
