Sgt. Samuel Richard Coltrane

 

 

 

 

Samuel Richard “Sam” Coltrane was born Jan. 14, 1913 to Marion Earl and Flossie Marie Higgins Coltrane. He died Dec. 18, 1944 and is buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Homburg, Belgium.

Sgt. Coltrane served in World War II with the U.S. Army 89th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron, 9th Armored Division and was KIA in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
