Pfc. Roswell Cobb, Jr.

Moville, Iowa – Mr. and Mrs. Roswell Cobb, Sr. have received word that their son, Pfc. Roswell Cobb, Jr. is missing in action. The telegram stated that he had been missing since June 22, somewhere in France, No further details were given. Pfc. Cobb will be 24 on his next birthday. He has been in the service for two years, having left for overseas about the first of March, 1944. His brother, Malcolm, is in training in Texas and his youngest brother, Robert of Sioux City is to enter the service in the course of the next couple weeks. The other Cobb boy, Ronald, of Chicago, received his medical discharge from the army some time ago.

Roswell Cobb “Junior” Cobb, Jr. was born Sept. 26, 1918 to Roswell (Sr.) and Pearl Robeson Cobb. He died June 22, 1944 and is buried in Arlington Cemetery, Moville, IA.

Pvt. Cobb served with the U.S. Army 313th Infantry Regiment, 79th Division and was MIA/KIA.
