Charles Elmer Clair

 

Charles Elmer Clair was born July 2, 1909 to Charles Elmer and Florence Cora Chittenden Clair. He died June 19, 1944 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.

Petty Officer Clair served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the LST-523 and was MIA/FOD/KIA in France when that vessel hit a mine and broke just forward of the superstructure and began to settle.
