Westfield, Iowa—LeRoy Earl Carter of Westfield, received his diploma and the commendation of his commanding officer at graduation exercises for his class in aerial gunnery at the naval air gunner’s school in Jacksonville, Florida. Carter was an honor student and one of the 10 men selected from the class for aerial gunnery. He received his basic navy training at San Diego, Cal., where he earned his third class petty officer rating. His mother, Mrs. Ethel Max Grogan, resides at Omaha.

LeRoy Earl Carter was born June 22, 1903 to Earl LeRoy and Ethel South Carter. He died May 11, 2003 in Albany, CA.
