Oren Duane Carlson was born Mar. 27, 1927 to Ray Franklin and Clarice Juliet Monson Carlson. He died Mar. 1, 1996 and is buried is South Marion Cemetery, Stratford, IA.

Oren Carlson, 68, of Webster City, died Friday, March 1, 1996, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 5, 1996, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Webster City, with Rev. Henry Jensen officiating. Burial was in the South Marion Cemetery, southeast of Stratford. Military rites were conducted at graveside by American Legion Post #191.

Oren Duane Carlson, son of Roy and Clarice Monson Carlson, was born March 22, 1927 at Stratford. He graduated from Stratford High School and started farming with his father. On June 5, 1950, he married Donitta Hyde at Fort Dodge. The couple farmed southeast of Stratford, then moved to Knoxville, where he was a mechanic. They moved to Fort Dodge, where he worked at the Tobin Farm. In 1970, they moved to Webster City, he was a pressman for Frigidaire for 15 years, retiring in 1984. He resided at the Madrid Home in Madrid for one year and resided in Salem Manor at Indianola since 1992.

He is survived by his wife; Donitta, sons; Duane and Bryan, both of Webster City, Kevin of Norfolk, Va., a daughter and son-in-law; Cindy and Rodney Saylor of Norfolk, Va., granddaughters; Amanda, Kalyn and Stephanie, brothers; Dale Carlson of Vincent, Arnold Carlson of Stratford, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local #442.
