Sgt. William E. Callaway

 

 

William E. Callaway was born Oct. 14, 1922 to Vayne E. and Etta E. Moore Callaway. He died June 13, 1943 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, England.

Sgt. Callaway served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 331st Bomber Squadron, 94th Bomber Group, Heavy and was MIA/FOD/KIA over the North Sea on a bombing mission to Germany. His aircraft failed to return from its mission. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Air Medal.
