Robert Francis Boo

 

Robert Francis Boo was born Jan. 29, 1917 to Edward J. and Helen Edith Russell Boo. He died Aug. 2, 1943 and has a cenotaph in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter, IA and at the Courts of the Missing, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Petty Officer Boo served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and served aboard the submarine USS Grunion (SS-216) which was sunk by the armed Japanese freighter Kano Maru near the entrance to Kiska Harbor, Alaska. He was MIA/KIA and awarded the Purple Heart.
