Irvin Carl Busch was born Nov. 27, 1924, in Ledyard, Iowa, to Carl and Bertha Hoeck Busch. He died Jan. 9, 2011 and is buried in Vegors Cemetery, Stratford, IA.

Pvt. Busch served with the U.S. Army in World War II in the Pacific Theater.

Irvin Busch, age 86, a longtime Ellsworth resident, died Sunday, January 9, 2011 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth, Iowa. Burial with military honors will be at Vegors Cemetery north of Stratford following lunch at the church fellowship hall after the funeral service. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. Becker Funeral Home in Jewell is caring for Irvin and his family.

Irvin Carl Busch was born November 27, 1924 in Ledyard, Iowa to Carl and Bertha (Hoeck) Busch. Irvin was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. On January 1, 1950 Irvin married Lillian Mae Twedt in Swea City, Iowa. They lived in Ellsworth the past 61 years. Irvin retired from the Ellsworth Co-op in 1988, where he was the L.P. service manager. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, bowling, and wood working. Irvin loved the time he spent with his family and sight seeing along our country roads. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion, and VFW.

Irvin is survived by his wife, Lillian of Ellsworth; a son, Charles (Debbie) Busch of Sauk Center, Minnesota; daughters, Beatrice (Robert) Napier of Webster City, Donna (Jack) Cleary of Baytown, Missouri, Christine (Steve) Bollig of Stanhope, Ruth Ann Anderson of Kelley, and Jane (Brian) Story of Ellsworth; 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Vivian Petersen of Sparks, Nevada; a brother-in-law, Marlin Larsen of Westminster, California; and a sister-in-law, Helen Magar of Ellsworth. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant twin sister, Lillian Mae; brothers, Clifford, Harold and Howard; a sister, Irene Larsen; and his grandson, Marty Anderson.
