Ross Willard Burnett was born May 4, 1917 to Ross H. and Vernie M. Burnett. He died Oct. 24, 2001 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Petty Officer Burnett served with the U.S. Navy in World War II.

Ross W. Burnett, 84, Webster City, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001 at Hamilton Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Carter officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.

Ross Willard Burnett, son of Ross and Verna Burnett, was born May 4, 1917 at Stuttgart, Ark. He received his education from Stuttgart Community Schools. On Oct. 24, 1937, he married Evelyn Lacy at Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City where he worked for Frigidaire. In 1943, he entered the United States Navy, returning to Frigidaire following his two years of service. Mr. Burnett retired from Frigidaire in 1979. He managed the U.S.W. #494 hall for many years.

In addition to his wife Evelyn, he is survived by his four sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Kay Burnett of Marshalltown, Ron and Lynn Burnett of Davenport, Wash., Russ Burnett of Marengo, Dan and Rena Burnett of Blairsburg, daughter, Cindy Ruhl, Blairsburg, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, sister, Leola Vogt, Webster Grove, Mo., two step-sisters, Darlene Caquelin, Webster City and Donna Logsten of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Eva Claude Burnett, two brothers, Don and Ray Burnett, sister, Juanita Willis, and step-brother Kenneth Burnett.

Mr. Burnett was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post #191 of Webster City.
