Donald Hugh Burke was born Sept. 29, 1922 to William B. and Vesta M. Williams Burke. He died Jan. 21, 1997 and is buried in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Des Moines, IA.

Donald served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II as a pilot with the 7th and 8th Air Force.

Donald Burke, 74, Los Osos, Calif., died Jan. 21, 1997, at his residence. Funeral services were held today at 1 p.m. at the Los Osos Valley Mortuary Chapel, with Rev. George R. Henriksen of the Community Presbyterian Church in Cambria officiating. Burial will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Montecito Memorial Park, Colton, Calif. The Los Osos Valley Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Donald Hugh Burke was born Sept. 29, 1922, in Duncombe. He was raised on a farm and graduated from high school in Webster City. In 1942, he entered the U.S. Air Force where he served as a pilot in World War II. After farming for 10 years, he moved his family to Southern California, where he was employed as a branch manager for Thorpe Insulation Co. for 30 years. His retirement years were spent in Morro Bay and Gold Beach, Ore. He was a member of the Masons and the Baywood Park Community Church.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Burke, Los Osos; sons, William Burke and David Burke; daughter, Carol Reed; five grandchildren; brother, Frank Burke; and sister, Evelyn Wieble.
