Pfc. Donald W. Brown Killed in Germany

Pfc. Donald W. Brown was killed in action in Germany on January 4, 1945, according to a telegram from the War Department, received Monday by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Brown of Oskaloosa.

Pfc. Brown, born and reared in this community and a graduate of Lovilia high school, entered service March 24, 1941 and was with the cavalry in Texas for over two years and later assigned to a motorized unit.

He had been overseas since January of 1944 and had been stationed in England, France, Belgium and Germany.

A brother, Staff Sgt. Wilford Brown is in Germany and a brother Alvia Brown, seaman first class, stationed at Charlestown, Rhode Island.

Wilford Dale Brown was born Feb. 27, 1924 to William R. and Viola May Robins Brown. He died May 31, 2008 and is buried in Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa, IA.
