Francis Merle “Merle” Bown was born Oct. 5, 1917 to Ellis James and Grace Florence Mitchell Bown. He died Oct. 3, 1944 and is buried in IOOF Cemetery, Indianola, IA.
Pvt. Bown served in World War II with the U.S. Army and was killed in a trucking accident in Belgium while serving his country.
