Lt. Everett Sherrill Brown

 

Everett Sherrill “Sherrill” Brown was born Nov. 18, 1917 to Everett C. and Eunice D. Showers Brown. He died Dec. 14, 1944 and is buried in Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, Manila, Philippines and has a cenotaph in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

Lt. Brown served with the U.S. Army as an Aviation Ordnance Officer with the 3rd Platoon, 693rd Ordnance Battalion (Aviation Interceptor), attached to the 24th Pursuit Group in the Philippines. He was held as a POW at Camp O’Donnel until he was forced aboard the Oryoku Maru with other POWs. That ship was sunk by American planes at Subic Bay, Philippine Islands and he was killed while attempting to escape after it had been bombed. His remains were never found.
