Kenneth Rachelle ‘Kenny’ Brooks was born Nov. 17, 1923 to Thomas and Maude Alford Brooks. He died Feb. 4, 2011 and is buried in Mamrelund Cemetery, Randall, IA.

Kenneth R. Brooks was born November 17, 1923 to Thomas and Maude (Alford) Brooks in Ames, Iowa. Kenny served in the United States Army. He married Florence Jean Weltha on April 6, 1952 and they farmed in the Story City area. He was an active member of Elim Lutheran Church in Randall and was care taker of Mamrelund Cemetery for many years. Kenny was a board member of the Coop and a member of the Farmers Union. He raised sweet corn on his farm for Randall Days for many years. Kenny enjoyed traveling, including many trips to Hawaii.

Kenny passed away Friday, February 4, 2011 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames at 87 years of age.

Kenny is survived by three sons, Steven Brooks of Story City, Douglas (Frances) Brooks of Hutchinson, Minnesota, and Joel (Patti) Weltha of Story City; one daughter, Diane Ness of Story City; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters Lois Gerlach of Nevada, Iowa and Dorothy (Norvel) Davis of Orange Vale, California, and sister-in-law Ruth Weltha of Ames.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his sister Donna Weltha.
