Burdell W. Brekken

 

 

 

John ‘J.H.’ and Selma Christine (Dyvig) Brekken’s 3 sons, Judean C., Burdell W., and Burdette G. served in the Army in World War II. Judean ‘Jay’ served in England with the 490th Bomb Group, Burdell was a bombardier with the 100th Bomb Group and Burdette served in Co. A, 3105th Signal Service Battalion.

Son-in-law, Carroll B. Kinseth (husband of Thora Brekken) was in the Air Force and served as a transport pilot in the southwest Pacific area.

Burdell “Brek” Warren Brekken, 92, born on May 5, 1924, passed away on Oct. 12, 2016. The memorial service is on November 5, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elim Lutheran Church, Randall, Iowa. Memorials may be made to The Bethany Life’s Chaplaincy Endowment Fund and to Elim Lutheran Church, Randall, Iowa.

Burdell is survived by 2 daughters, one brother, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Burdell is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, June (Halleland), his parents, John and Christine (Dyvig) Brekken, his brother Judean “Jay” Brekken, and his sisters, Thora Kinseth, and Ethel Husmoe.
