Arnold Lyle Branyord was born Oct. 20, 1910 to Martin and Ella M. Branyord. He died Sept. 14, 1995 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Cpl. Branyord served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Arnold Branyord, 84, Webster City, died Sept. 14, 1995, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Donald Ripley officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 191. Visitation will be at Foster Funeral Home from 5 p.m. Tuesday until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, when the casket will be taken to the church.

Arnold Lyle Branyord, son of Martin and Ella Amundson Branyord, was born Oct. 20, 1910 in Radcliffe. He attended the rural McCoy school (Sherman No. 7) near Radcliffe. He then, farmed with his father near Radcliffe. On Oct. 6, 1940, he married Phyllis Eileen Lee in Des Moines. The couple farmed south of Woolstock. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in an armored division in the European Theatre of Action. Following his discharge, he returned to farming south of Woolstock for eight years. He was then employed at Marvel’s Sales Barn for several years. He worked with his brother in carpentry and then with Zitterell Mills Construction. The couple owned and operated the Mid-Town Motel for five years. In 1966, he started employment at the Hamilton County Public Hospital in maintenance and ambulance work and retired in 1976. He then worked at the Newcastle Inn for 10 years. His wife died in December of 1986.

He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Kent, Marion, Jane and Jack Adams, Webster City, Dee and Dennis Willson, Des Moines; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; brothers, Atlee Branyord, Story City, Dean Branyord, Webster City; sister, Maxine Severson, Radcliffe; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Kermit Branyord.
