Lt. D. D. Blechinger

 

 

 

D.D. Blechinger is Casualty on Iwo

Mr. and Mrs. O.R. Blechinger, 4608 Beaver Crest drive, have received word from the navy department that thier only child, Lt. D.D. Blechinger, 24, was killed in action Mar. 11, on Iwo Jima.

A member of the 4th Marine Division, Lieutenant Blechinger went into service upon graduation from Creighton university in 1943. He had been overseas since Nov. 11, 1944.

He was a graduate of Dowling college and Kemper Military school, Boonville, Mo.

Daniel DeSalles Blechinger was born Dec. 2, 1920 to Oscar Richard and Ella V. Lyons Blechinger. He died Mar. 11, 1945 and is buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Lt. Blechinger served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps and was KIA on Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands while in the service of his country.
