Iowa Honor Roll

These Iowans have given their lives for their country. Each man pictured here has been killed in combat or has died in a prison camp. This group includes the five Sullivan brothers of Waterloo, who went down with the Juneau. The fourth line under each picture indicates the area in which the man last served. Further Honor Roll photographs will be carried here later.

Robert William Berg was born Feb. 18, 1917 to Mathias William Henry and Jennie Weilein Berg. He died Aug. 9, 1942 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Petty Officer Berg served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Vincennes (CA-44) and lost his life while performing his duties in the service of his country at the Battle of Savo Island.
