IOWA HONOR ROLL

These Iowans, like the many carried here in previous Honor Roll listings, have given their lives for their country. Each one was either killed in actual combat or died in prison camp. The fourth line beneath each photograph indicates the war area in which the Iowan was serving. Additional pictures will be carried on future Sundays.

George Gordon Bell was born Aug. 13, 1917 to George W. and Winifred McGowan Bell. He died Feb. 7, 1943 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing at the East Coast Memorial, New York City, NY. He has a cenotaph at Elmwood Cemetery, Wright County, IA.

Pvt. Bell served with the U.S. Army, Ordnance Dept. He embarked from the east coast for overseas duty and it was while on this convoy that his ship was attacked by an enemy submarine and he was lost at sea.
