Laverne Myron Behrens was born June 5, 1922 to John M. and Tillie Rockow Behrens. He died Aug. 13, 2016 and is buried in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.

Laverne served with the U.S. Coast Guard in World War II.

His Obituary:

BEHRENS, Laverne M., age 94, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016 in Sebring, Florida.

He was born on June 5, 1922 in Williams, Iowa to the late John M. and Tillie (Rockow) Behrens. Laverne was a veteran with the U.S. Coast Guard serving during World War II. He spent his career in the retail business owning his own super-market. After retiring he settled in Sebring. One of his favorite past-times was watching baseball and football on TV.

Survivors include his sons: Rick Behrens and wife, Mary-College Grove, TN and Jim Behrens and wife, Sharon-Bella Vista, AR; brother: Mike Behrens and sister, Verla Weber; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Laverne was preceded in death by his wife, whom he loved dearly, Delores Jean Echelberger Behrens.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, 5:00-7:00pm at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 18th beginning at 10:00am at the funeral home with W. Mike Adams officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida beginning at 2:00pm. Memorial
