2nd Lt. Wm. "Bill" Barger

 

 

 

 

2nd Lt. William "Bill" Barger, the son of Wilfred B. and Margaret E. (Maloney) Barger, served as Unit Commander HQ Co., 17th Airborne Field Artillery Division. He served 18 months in England, France, Belgium and Germany, participating in the Battle of the Bulge. He was re-assigned to the 101st AB Division as a member of their undefeated football team then transferred to the 82nd AB Division to return home to the U.S. as Unit Commander on the Queen Mary. He marched in the huge New York City ticker tape parade in January 1946.
