MASON CITYANS HOLD IMPROMPTU REUNION IN LONDON - Three Mason City officers held an impromptu reunion in London recently. Left to right: Lt. Ross Anderson, Maurauder pilot; Maj. A.D. Avise, officer in charge of V-mail in European theater of operations, and Capt. Harrison D. Kohl, business and promotions manager of the Star and Stripes, official army publication in the ETO.

Reginald Dean “Dean” Avise was born Apr. 9, 1909 to Dennis Ellsworth and Edna Thraves Avise. He died Nov. 10, 2004 and is buried in Bates Township Cemetery, Mapleton, MI.

Lt. Col. Avise served with the U.S. Army in World War II.
