Howard Walter Ash was born Mar. 1, 1904 to Richard H. and Catharine Sullivan Ash. He died Mar. 14, 1975 and is buried at the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, IA.

Private Ash served with the U.S. Army in World War II in the European Theatre with the 133rd Infantry, 34th Division.

Howard Ash Rites Held

Funeral services for Howard Ash, 71, formerly of Webster City, were held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Marshalltown with burial being in the Iowa Soldiers Home cemetery in that city.

Mr. Ash died Friday afternoon at the Soldiers home hospital.

Born March 1, 1904 at Webster City, he was the son of Richard and Kathryn Sullivan Ash. He was a veteran of World War II and worked as a carpenter before his retirement.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Walter Hall of Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Rosary services were held Monday night at 8 o’clock at the Abey Funeral home in Marshalltown.
