Peter Anthony Angstrom

 

 

Peter Anthony Angstrom was born Apr. 19, 1926 to Andrew and Thresa Miller Angstrom. He died Nov. 4, 2013 and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Stratford, IA.

Peter served with the U.S. Navy in World War II in the Pacific Theater.

His Obituary:

Peter Anthony Angstrom, 87, of Stratford, Iowa passed away at the Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center in Stratford on Monday afternoon, November 4, 2013 where he had resided since June of 2001.

He was born on April 19, 1926 in Campbell, Missouri the son of Andrew Angstrom and Thresa (Miller) Angstrom.

On February 2, 1974, he married Catherine Strunk at the McGuire Bend United Brethren Church northwest of Stratford, Iowa.

Pete was a 1944 graduate of Stratford High School. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the Navy in the Pacific Theater. In 1950, he purchased his blacksmith shop which he owned and operated for 30 years before retiring. Pete enjoyed gardening, visiting with his friend and customers over a cup of coffee, and his grandchildren. He loved being out of doors fishing, coon hunting with his dogs or searching for arrowheads to add to his collection.

He was a member of the American Legion.

His parents; 5 brothers Louis, Clem, Sylvester, Joe and John; and 3 sisters Mary, Martha and Katherine preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Catherine of Stratford; 4 daughters: Diane Love of Des Moines, Iowa, Marla Andrews and husband Jim of Des Moines, Iowa, Davene Runyan of Boone, Iowa and Margo Haman and husband Jim of Stratford, Iowa; 3 sons David Angstrom of Los Angeles, California, David Angle and wife Vicki of Blair, Nebraska and Brian Angstrom and wife Sherri of Ames, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 brother Bernard Angstrom of DeSoto, Missouri; and 1 sister Rose Angstrom "Sister Faustina" of Bronx, New York.
