Herschel Wallace Anderson was born Sept. 1, 1916 to Wallace Andrew and Clara Amanda Carlson. He died Mar. 16, 1997 and is buried in South Marion Cemetery, Stratford, IA.

Herschel served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II.

Herschel Wallace Anderson, of 4145 Toronto St., Ames, Iowa, passed away on March 16, 1997 at Mary Greeley Medical Center of complications from heart surgery.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. at Collegiate United Methodist Church in Ames, Iowa. Burial will be in South Marion Cemetery south of Stratford, Iowa at 2:30 p.m.

Herschel Wallace Anderson was born in Stratford, Iowa on September 1, 1916 to Wallace Anderson and Clara Carlson.

Herschel married Edna Meeker on June 28, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Herschel farmed in the Stratford area until 1963 when he moved to Ames and spent the last 34 years of his life living there.

He was Manager of Administrative Services at the Agriculture Experiment Station at Iowa State University. He retired in 1985.

He served in the Army Air Corp. in World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Edna of Ames, Iowa; two sons, Wallace Anderson of Richardson, Texas, and Allan Anderson of Winchester, Mass.; two daughters, Cleone Beall of Wichita  Kansas and Claire Henry of Indianola, Iowa; two brothers, Stanley Anderson of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Melvin Anderson of Stratford, Iowa; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Stevens Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
