CHARLES S. ANDERSON, 82, STRATFORD

STRATFORD - Charles S. Anderson, 82, Stratford, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Stratford Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dale Kelley and Rev. Sue-Ellen Sherman officiating. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery north of Stratford. Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 12 a.m. Friday at the Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford.

Charles S. Anderson, the son of John and Wilhelmina (Peterson) Anderson, was born July 19, 1910, in Stratford. He attended country schools in the Stratford area.

On June 26, 1938, he married Hannah V. Magnuson at the Swede Bend Mission Church near Stratford.

The couple farmed in the Stratford area until retiring in the mid 1970s.

Mr. Anderson was a member of the Swede Bend Mission Church and the American Legion Frederick Sonksen Post 576. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Hannah, of Stratford; a daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Ivan Andersen, Stratford; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Trudie Anderson, Ames; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the Stratford Lutheran Church or the South Marion United Methodist Church.
