Pfc. Glenn D. Allen

 

 

 

Pfc. Glenn D. Allen of this city was seriously wounded in France July 18, his wife was notified in a war department message received Tuesday morning.

The Webster City serviceman is a member of a combat engineers battalion and has been seeing action in France since the middle of June.

Allen was transferred overseas last November and was located in North Africa until January when he was moved to England.

Sends Medal

The purple heart medal awarded Pfc. Glenn D. Allen for wounds suffered in France July 18, has been received here by his wife. Allen was wounded when steel fragments from an exploding booby trap struck him in the neck, making necessary a plastic surgery operation Aug. 16, in a hospital in England. Another operation on his neck was performed Oct. 17.

Glenn Danstrom Allen was born Feb. 12, 1914 to Clarence Danstrom and Jessie J. Allen. He died Apr. 1, 1970 and is buried in the Cass Center Cemetery, Webster City, IA.
