Charles Wood Is Dead in Guinea

Mrs. Eleanor Wood, 29 North Seventh street, has received an official notification of the death of her husband, Tech 5/g Charles E. Wood, jr., in New Guinea on Oct. 30.

The cause of his death has not been announced. He had been in New Guinea since Sept. 10.

Besides his widow, he is survived by one daughter, Beverly Ann, two sisters, Mrs. Charles Little and Miss Helen McKain.

Charles Emmet Wood, Jr. was born Dec. 31, 1913 to Charles E. (Sr.) and Hattie Druen Wood. He died Oct. 30, 1943 and is buried in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Council Bluffs, IA.

Sgt. Wood served in World War II with the U.S. Army 836th Engineer Aviation Battalion.
