Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wolford entertained Mr. and Mrs. Jason Wolford, Jackie and Jerry and Corp. William Wolford of Fort Sam Houston, Tex., recently. Corp. Wolford returned to camp Thursday after spending a 15 day furlough here.

Battle Casualties Sadden More Homes

SGT. W. WOLFORD
—Sgt. W. Wolford lost his life in the sinking of a troopship in enemy action on Nov. 27, 1943, his father, Ray V. Wolford, Conesville, was advised.

Claude William “Billy” Wolford was born Oct. 8, 1918 to Ray Vaughn and Bertha M. Hannon Wolford. He died Nov 27, 1943 and has a cenotaph in Conesville Cemetery, Conesville, IA.
