Lloyd D. Weaver

Signalman First Class Lloyd D. Weaver, 409 S. Wall street, is serving aboard the U.S.S.P.C. 618 in French waters.  The 618’s log shows a rounded out fighting record since she was commissioned September 7, 1942.  For a time she was part of a killer group acting against enemy surface raiders, and saw action in the Azores, at Casablanca and off South America.  On D-day she was a control ship for a Normandy beach, and has remained on patrol in the channel since then.  The 618 set a record at one time staying on continuous duty for 35 days.  A son of Mr. and Mrs. David Weaver of Moville, Ia., Signalman Weaver has three brothers, John, Burton and Keith, also in the Navy.  Lloyd is a former student of Moville high school.  His wife, Vera, lives in Sioux City.
